The Best of Shakespeare Workshop
Minerva Stage offers a workshop for students exploring the
world of Shakespeare that can be modified to fit every
student’s level of experience with the Bard. Students will
strengthen their skills as they explore the nuances of classic
Shakespearean text. The workshop will include classes in
voice, stage combat, clown, movement, monologue, sonnet and
scene work. The workshop will culminate with a performance
for their family, friends and the community at large.
Sundays from 1 PM to 5 PM
March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, April 7th, 14th
Performance April 14th at 7pm
Students ages 8 and older

Meet the Teaching Artists
Teaching Artists Kathy O’Mara and Stacy Highsmith bring years of experience with teaching and directing to the workshop, committed to the success and value of Shakespeare training and performance. Kathy O’Mara has been teaching and directing Shakespeare’s works since 1996. Her favorites include “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “The Tempest” and “12th Night”. Kathy is Artistic Director of Minerva Stage and enjoys having the benefit of working and living on both coasts.
Stacy Highsmith has spent years teaching children Shakespeare and staging productions such as “Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “The Tempest.” She loves to see the excitement in her students as they learn to conquer Shakespeare as well as the awe of the parents as they see their children transform into classical actors.

The Gleekers Winter/Spring Session
Minerva Arts Center announces the winter/spring workshop “The Gleekers”
Back by popular demand the Minerva Arts Center will be offering its winter/spring session of The Gleekers.
To register, go to Minerva Workshops tab on the home page to submit on line registration form.
Inspired by the hit T.V. show Glee, students explore dance, song and theatricality ranging from Broadway tunes to modern songs and choreography, instructed by dance instructor and choreographer Nicole Rizzo and vocal teacher Kimberly Rose, this 12 week workshop culminates with two performances on
April 27th, 2013.
Two sessions available, Wednesdays 4PM-6PM or
Saturdays 10AM-12PM
Workshop and performances to held at The First Congregational Church located at 906 Main Street in Williamstown.
Wednesday classes will be held from 4PM to 6PM in the Youth Chapel, and will run January 23rd, 30th, February 6th, 13th, 27th, March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, April 3rd,10th, and 24th. Saturday classes will be held from 10AM to Noon, and will run January 26th, February 2nd, 9th, 16th, March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, April 6th, 13th, 24th.
There will be a 2PM and a 7PM performance for the public on April 27th in Fellowship Hall.

This year our performers show multi-faceted talent, ranging from soloists, duets, dance, piano, storytelling, a staged-reading, trumpets and flutes, guest appearance of the Minerva Gleekers, and an Illusionist.

“Cannibal! The Musical is loosely based on the true story of the only person convicted of cannibalism in America – Alferd Packer The sole survivor of an ill-fated trip to the Colorado Territory, he tells his side of the harrowing tale to news reporter Polly Pry as he awaits his execution. And his story goes like this: While searching for gold and love in the Colorado Territory, he and his companions lost their way and resorted to unthinkable horrors, including toe-tapping songs!”
The movie was written by Trey Parker, one of the authors of the Tony Award winning smash hit Broadway Musical “ The Book of Mormon” and the long running Emmy Award winning television program “South Park” and numerous other ambitious projects often with frequent collaborator Matt Stone, including: “South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut”, “ Orgasmo” and “Team America World Police”.
