The Gleekers Workshop

The Gleekers!

Students of all ages celebrate the vast world of music and choreography. Students select songs ranging from top hits to Broadway goodies and match traditional and modern choreography to the music. Fully costumed and polished, the students present the work at a performance for family, friends and the community.

Workshop classes include, voice, musicality, movement, character, choreography, costuming and make-up.
Workshop will be held August 19th through August 23rd Monday through Friday Noon to 5 PM
Performance will be on August 23rd at 7 PM. The workshop will be held in Fellowship Hall, at the First Congregational Church of Williamstown.
Tuition for the workshop is $150.

Minerva West offers Shakespeare Workshop

“Where student’s art forms are celebrated and hidden talents discovered”
The Best of Shakespeare Workshop
Minerva Stage offers a workshop for students exploring the
world of Shakespeare that can be modified to fit every
student’s level of experience with the Bard. Students will
strengthen their skills as they explore the nuances of classic
Shakespearean text. The workshop will include classes in
voice, stage combat, clown, movement, monologue, sonnet and
scene work. The workshop will culminate with a performance
for their family, friends and the community at large.
 Sundays from 1 PM to 5 PM
 March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, April 7th,  14th
 Performance April 14th at 7pm
 Students ages 8 and older
 All classes and performance will be held
at: Silverlake Community Church

Meet the Teaching Artists
Teaching Artists Kathy O’Mara and Stacy Highsmith bring years of experience with teaching and directing to the workshop, committed to the success and value of Shakespeare training and performance. Kathy O’Mara has been teaching and directing Shakespeare’s works since 1996. Her favorites include “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “The Tempest” and “12th Night”. Kathy is Artistic Director of Minerva Stage and enjoys having the benefit of working and living on both coasts.
Stacy Highsmith has spent years teaching children Shakespeare and staging productions such as “Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “The Tempest.”  She loves to see the excitement in her students as they learn to conquer Shakespeare as well as the awe of the parents as they see their children transform into classical actors.

The Gleekers Winter/Spring Session

Minerva Arts Center announces the winter/spring workshop “The Gleekers”

Back by popular demand the Minerva Arts Center will be offering its winter/spring session of The Gleekers.

To register, go to Minerva Workshops tab on the home page to submit on line registration form.

Inspired by the hit T.V. show Glee, students explore dance, song and theatricality ranging from Broadway tunes to modern songs and choreography, instructed by dance instructor and choreographer Nicole Rizzo and vocal teacher Kimberly Rose, this 12 week workshop culminates with two performances on

April 27th, 2013.

Two sessions available, Wednesdays 4PM-6PM or

Saturdays 10AM-12PM

Workshop and performances to held at The First Congregational Church located at 906 Main Street in Williamstown.

Wednesday classes will be held from 4PM to 6PM in the Youth Chapel, and will run January 23rd, 30th, February 6th, 13th, 27th, March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, April 3rd,10th, and 24th. Saturday classes will be held from 10AM to Noon, and will run January 26th, February 2nd, 9th, 16th, March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, April 6th, 13th, 24th.
There will be a 2PM and a 7PM performance for the public on April 27th in Fellowship Hall.

Minerva Arts Center presents: The 3rd Annual Holiday Showcase

Minerva Arts Center is proud to announce The 3rd Annual Holiday Showcase, a wintertime variety show that plans to warm the Northern Berkshire melting pot and fill you and your family with holiday cheer from around the world. This year our performers show multi-faceted talent, ranging from soloists, duets, dance, piano, storytelling, a staged-reading, trumpets and flutes, guest appearance of the Minerva Gleekers, and an Illusionist.

When: Tuesday, December 18th and Wednesday, December 19th 2012 at 7PM

Where: The First Congregational Church of Williamstown, in The Fellowship Hall,  located at 906 Main Street, Williamstown, MA

Tickets: $5.00 General Admission   Students 7 and under Free!

The Boston String Quartet – Christmas in Paris

Haunting French carols, all new stories, and a multimedia adventure through “la ville lumiere” the City of Lights featuring the Boston String Quartet

The Minerva Arts Center is proud to have The Boston String Quartet return again this year for their 3rd annual Christmas series entitled “Christmas in Paris”. With over 40 showings of their last two series, “Christmas in Buenos Aires” and “A Celtic Christmas Extravaganza”, the Quartet will be exploring Parisian Life by presenting music from hit movies such as Scorsese’s “Hugo” and the French award winning “The Illusionist”, jazz legends Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, native French supergroup the Gipsy Kings, music from the beloved Edith Piaf, and traditional French carols. All arrangements are written by Quartet members. NEW in 2012 will be soaring videos of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre to accompany the music.
The Boston String Quartet is one of very few string ensembles forging new territory in the string world by writing all original music and arrangements. Contemporaries and collaborators with the Boston String Quartet include ensembles such as the GRAMMY Winning Turtle Island and Kronos Quartets, and string celebrities such as Mark O Connor and Edgar Meyer. “By writing original compositions for string quartet, we are paving a way for our traditional instruments in a world of contemporary music” says cellist, Christina Stripling.

AUDITIONS

Minerva Arts Center is proud to announce open auditions for the 3rd Annual Holiday Showcase, a wintertime variety show that plans to warm the Northern Berkshire melting pot and fill your family with holiday cheer from around the world.

Whether you’re a musician, poet, actor, dancer, juggler, or any other type of performing artist, there’s an opening for YOU, especially if your act highlights any number of world religions and the upcoming holiday season. All types of performers of all ages are encouraged to audition

Auditions are Tuesday, December 4th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM,
Thursday, December 6th from 5:30PM to 7:30PM and
Saturday, December 8th from 10:30AM to 12:30PM.

All auditions will be held in the Youth Chapel at The First Congregational Church of Williamstown, 906 Main Street, Williamstown, MA. Performances are Tuesday, December 18th and Wednesday, December 19th at 7PM, at The First Congregational Church of Williamstown, in Fellowship Hall.

Minerva Arts Center is proud to announce the return of The Gleekers!!

MAC’s  summer workshop Gleek Week is now going to be offered in weekly classes.

Inspired by the hit T.V. show Glee, students explore dance, song and theatricality ranging from Broadway tunes to modern songs and choreography.

Classes run for 8 weeks with a performance December 8th!!

Two sessions available, Wednesdays 4-6pm or Saturdays 10-12pm.

Workshop and performance to held at The First Congregational Church located at 906 Main Street in Williamstown. Wednesday Classes are 4PM -6PM.  In the Youth Chapel, Oct. 17th, 24th, and Nov. 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, and Dec. 5th. Saturday Classes 10AM to 12PM.   In The Youth Chapel, Oct. 20th, 27th, Nov. 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and Dec. 1st. Dress Rehearsal Dec. 8th 1PM – 5PM for both Wednesday and Saturday classes, and a performance Dec. 8th at 7 PM.

Tuition: $200.00
