All the World’s a Stage ’17

All the World's a Stage 16This workshop series allows students to develop an introductory mastery of various art forms within the world of Theatre.  Sign-up for just one weekend, or join us for all four!  There will be a short showcase each Sunday at 5pm for the students to show-off their new-found talents!

  • ART OF COMEDY
    Learn about the different styles of comedy, comedic timing, improvisation, mime- and clown- technique in this unique weekend intensive.  Weekend culminates in performance for the audience.
    Saturday & Sunday, March 18 & 19, 2016, 2-5pm
  • SONNETS, MONOLOGUES, AND DIALOGUE
    Learn about the different type of scripts and styles of text that actors work with, then dive into character development.  Explore the intricacies of pace and timing, character arcs and story arcs.  Weekend culminates with performances of workshop pieces.
    Saturday & Sunday, March 25 & 26, 2016, 2-5pm
  • ELEMENTS OF THEATRICAL DESIGN
    A full weekend of design elements… From sets and props, to costumes, hair and make-up.  Have fun experimenting with the various visual arts involved in theatrical productions.  Weekend culminates with a runway showcase!
    Saturday & Sunday, April 1 & 2, 2016, 2-5pm
  • BUILDING MUSICAL THEATRE MAGIC
    Acting, Singing and Dancing come together while exploring scenes from popular Broadway Musicals.  Weekend culminates in a staged performance.
    Saturday & Sunday, April 8 & 9, 2016, 2-5pm

Workshop ages 6 and up.

Dates: Saturdays & Sundays, March 18 – April 9, 2016, 2-5pm

Tuition: $170 for Series, or $50 per weekend

Once Upon a Time… Summer Session

lil ameliaA great introduction to the world of theatre for students age 3-6yo! Games and exercises develop imagination and play, motor and language skills, focus, teamwork, self-confidence, and acting technique! Text is adapted from beloved Fairy Tales full of great characters!
Workshop dates: August 14th through August 18th, 2017
10:00 to 2:00 PM at The First Congregational Church of Williamstown.
Performance: 
August 18th at 2:00 PM
Ages 3 – 6
Workshop Fee: $150

FILMMAKING WORKSHOP

Students create an oriFilmmaking '16ginal short film from concept to screen in this two-week intensive workshop.
Workshop dates: July 3rd through July 14th, 2017

12:00 to 5:00 PM at The First Congregational Church of Williamstown.  There will be no class on Tuesday July 4th.
Ages 7 and up.

Workshop fee: $350

THE GLEEKERS!

gleekers 16Students present an evening of song and dance ranging from Contemporary, Classic and Broadway hits! During this one week workshop, students and teaching artists create a fully produced performance that will entertain audiences of all ages. Workshop focus in voice and choreography elements of a performance piece, with individual, duets, and ensemble numbers.

Workshop dates: July 17th through July 21st, 2017
12:00 to 5:00 PM at The First Congregational Church of Williamstown.
Performance: July 21st at 7PM
Ages 7 and up.
Workshop fee: $175

LITTLE TO BIG PRESENTS…

Musical RehearsalThis multi-age three-week workshop celebrates classic musical theatre with focus on ensemble building, voice and physical technique, and a fully produced production with three performances.
Workshop dates:  July 24th through August 12th, 2017
12:00 to 5:00 PM at The First Congregational Church of Williamstown.
Performances:
August 11th at 11AM & 7PM
August 12th at 2 PM
Ages 7 and up.
Workshop fee: $525

Nightmare Before Christmas The Musical

Minerva Arts Center offers a Fall Theatre Arts Workshop presenting “Nightmare Before Christmas – The Musical” an original adaptation based on the animated classic by Tim Burton. Workshop rehearsals will be held at the First Congregational Church, located at 906 Main St. Williamstown, MA.
Workshop will begin October 15th and performances are November 18th and November 19th.
Rehearsals are scheduled for Saturday afternoons from 1 PM to 5 PM and Sunday afternoons from 2 PM to 5 PM.
Rehearsal dates are as follows: Oct 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th, Nov. 5th, 6th, 11th*, 12th, 13th. (Tech week Nov. 14th – 17th TBD)
*Friday Nov. 11th Veteran’s Day rehearsal 12-5pm.
Ages 7 and up

Holiday Showcase

Have you ever wanted to perform your favorite song, dance, comedy routine or specialty act?  The Holiday Showcase is back!  Minerva Arts Center invites children and adults to this community event.
Auditions: November 20th from 3pm to 6pm at:
The First Congregational Church, 906 Main St, Williamstown.
Please come prepared to audition with the act you wish to perform at the Showcase. Alternate Audition arrangements are possible.
Tech Rehearsal will be December 11th at 3pm.
Alternate arrangements are possible if you are unable to attend rehearsal on the 12th.
Public Performances: December 17th at 2pm & 7pm.
